Life is inherently oxidative because of all the changes you are going through, and stress is inevitable. However, there are different forms of stress and while some are constructive and strengthen you, there are some other destructive forms of stress that end up weakening you. The way stress manifests and the way you experience it, is a response to motivation, which encompasses the set of reasons that leads you to do the things you are doing in the way you are doing them. Therefore, stress is not more important than all the set of reasons and motives behind its emergence.
Motivation can be subdivided into two main categories. In the first hand, you have organic motivation which, is self-impulsed and tends to wire conducive pathways for constructive forms of stress, because it represents motion towards a desired goal. It extends out of purpose. In the other hands, you have negative motivation which includes all the things you believe you have to do in order not to lose something, even if doesn't answer any inner call. Negative motivation produces contractions within the body. Of course, it’s a balance because you can’t always choose what you want to have entirely, but you can’t constantly invest in what you don’t want to lose neither.
Behind negative forms of stress comes the belief that working harder will necessarily lead you to where you want to be. But the truth is that, working harder is incomplete without working smarter, and the obsession to perform in life for the wrong reasons generates a deep insatisfaction and throws you out of balance. The cult for physical and mental performance is the first cause of toxicity you see proliferate in society and in your own lives as well. This kind of negative attachment to stress perpetuates all sorts of mental, emotional and physical imbalances in the long run. They are the main reason stress leads to the erosion of health.
Fortunately, there are some technics and activities that slow down inflammatory processes and bring down the body and mind to a natural state of homeostasis. Education, both of the body and the mind, is the best way to support you in building a solid endurance to stress which is your ability to metabolize it. Everyone should develop a genuine interest for the language of stress not only high achievers, to recognize its many facets and expressions, and understand the way it alters their body and their minds in both positive and negative ways.
